bd@
Destination-market audience diligence
When a title enters a new market
bd@ gives a finished film or series a blind read in the market where it is being considered.
This public prototype demonstrates one encounter. The visitor is not a verified destination-market panel. Answers remain in this tab and are not sent or stored.
FIG 0.1
Watch it before selected context appears
No title, maker, cast or home-market record. The first response is recorded before selected context appears.
FIG 0.1
Did it stay with you?
Answer before selected context is disclosed. This answer is never rewritten by what comes next.
FIG 0.2
Now here is what it is
- FIG 0.2What it isA hand-drawn animated film. Every frame was drawn on paper, one at a time.
- FIG 0.3Who made itWinsor McCay, in 1914. He drew ten thousand frames himself and performed alongside the film on stage.
- FIG 0.4How it is regardedGertie the Dinosaur is held to be the film that showed animation could carry a character an audience cares about. It is in the National Film Registry.
Your first response, kept:
FIG 0.5
Ask yourself again
The same question, after all selected context.
Before context:
FIG 0.6
Your answer moved
Your second answer differed after selected context was disclosed. One encounter cannot establish why it changed. Across a planned panel, the full set of transitions becomes one measured part of the read.
Your answer held
Your answer was the same before and after selected context was disclosed. That does not prove context had no effect. It preserves a comparison the buyer can inspect.
You were unsure, twice
The same response was recorded in both states. Across a planned panel, unsure-to-unsure remains visible beside every other transition rather than disappearing into one changed percentage.
The working prototype demonstrates one encounter. The first paid engagement adds qualified viewers in one selected destination market, a next-day return, analysis and the buyer readout.
FIG 1 · The problem
Content moves in every direction. Each route needs a destination-specific configuration
-
United States → India
One finished series
A new destination audience, language context, screener operation and buying team
-
India → United States
The same job in reverse
A different audience and market, measured under the same route-level protocol
-
Korea → France
Another route
One title and one destination market create one bounded advance decision
The audience, language, rights and fieldwork configuration must be assembled for the route. Existing suppliers can run this work; the proposed wedge is a comparable disclosure-state record tied to the next decision.
FIG 2 · The first transaction
One finished title. One destination market. One pending advance decision
-
01
The buyer brings
One finished film or series, one selected destination market, an approved screener and a decision date
-
02
The first paid engagement runs
Participant recruitment and qualification, localization, secure fieldwork, blind and context responses, a next-day return and analysis
-
03
The buying team uses
A live readout and decision session, with an exportable evidence brief and audit trail left behind
The exact title version, directed origin-to-destination route, pending advance decision and protocol version define one read.
What is withheld, and what cannot be
Title and buyer positioning
Director and maker identity
Cast identity and home-market familiarity
Home-market record and reputation
Origin can remain legible through language, faces, places and the image itself. The read names that limit rather than calling the first condition context-free.
FIG 3 · The managed read
The first product is the operated study, not the file left behind
The first paid engagement is designed to run the complete title-to-market job. The buyer pays for a repeatable route and better allocation of scarce review and negotiation time, not for a PDF or an uncalibrated prediction. The working prototype currently demonstrates the response protocol and event model at its center.
-
01
Recruit and qualify
Viewers match the selected destination market and criteria fixed before fieldwork
-
02
Localize and screen
Language quality and a rights-approved secure screener are operating requirements, not footnotes
-
03
Record before context
The first response stays attached to the disclosure state under which it was given
-
04
Disclose in stages
Selected identity, maker, cast and home-market context appears without rewriting the first response
-
05
Return the next day
Return, attrition and whether the response held remain separate in the first paid engagement
-
06
Read the decision
The buyer sees evidence for advancing, counter-evidence, missing evidence and what to request next
FIG 4 · What the buyer uses
Not one success score. A decision record and a live readout
| Blind response | Stayed | Unsure | Did not |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stayed | Count | Count | Count |
| Unsure | Count | Count | Count |
| Did not | Count | Count | Count |
Columns show the response after all selected context. Structure only.
-
01
Decision docket
Title, market, sponsor, decision date, viewer criteria, protocol version and primary question
-
02
Blind baseline
First-response distribution before selected context, with denominator and uncertainty
-
03
Response transitions
Every blind-to-context movement kept as a three-by-three matrix rather than one changed percentage
-
04
Next-day evidence
Return, attrition and persistence, reported separately rather than folded into one score
-
05
Qualified differences
Pre-specified viewer groups only when the sample supports comparison
-
06
Buyer readout
Advance, request more evidence or stop. The brief is the retained export of the session
No composite title score appears before repeated observations can be calibrated against later outcomes.
FIG 5 · From service to platform
One read is a transaction. Repeated routes become the product system
| Horizon | What is true at that horizon |
|---|---|
| Working today | Blind exposure, staged disclosure, separate response-event capture in the live build and deterministic paired-response aggregation |
| First paid engagement | One approved title, qualified viewers in one selected destination market, secure screening, next-day return and buyer readout |
| Repeated product | Multi-title slate reads and comparable title-to-market benchmark distributions under one versioned protocol |
| Conditional later layer | Tracking and calibrated prediction only after reusable observations are linked to real decisions and outcomes |
FIG 6 · Customer and market
Acquisition owns the advance decision. The first buying path is a hypothesis
| Role | Place in the purchase |
|---|---|
| Content Acquisition or Programming | Owns the review and the decision to advance |
| Consumer Insights or Research Operations | Evaluates the method and may own the external research budget |
| Legal and Content Security | Approves the screener and access to unreleased footage |
| Procurement, Privacy, Finance and Strategy | Approve the supplier and join as the title advances |
The first hypothesis is an engagement funded from existing external audience-research spend by a mid-sized streaming service or acquiring distributor. No total-addressable-market number, price or budget owner has been validated.
FIG 7 · Why now and why AI
Human viewers create the evidence. bd@ makes it legible
| Change | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Cross-border viewing | Netflix reported that most viewing in 2025 came from members watching a title from a country other than their own |
| Remote fieldwork | Online participant networks and secure screening make destination-market studies executable without a consumer community in every country |
| Why AI | Source-linked AI can translate, code, compare, synthesize and challenge approved human evidence while preserving links to the original responses |
| The boundary | The participant flow does not run AI. AI cannot replace viewers, overwrite source observations, exclude a response automatically or emit the buyer’s decision |
Deterministic code measures. the pointers reviews and remains accountable. The buyer decides.
FIG 8 · Why Minsul
Experience across the work, the rights chain and the policy around both
Minsul Nam has worked across songwriting, film production and company-building, creator organization, copyright and policy. San Francisco is the current base; Korea-to-U.S. is the likely first evidence corridor. The founder has built the public premise test and the working protocol prototype, not a claimed global panel.
FIG 9 · The public premise
Korean peak rank did not rank-order U.S. Top 10 entry
Among 270 title-season-category records that reached number one in Korea on Netflix, 203 never entered the U.S. Top 10 and 67 did.
Separately, among 1,618 records that appeared in Korea, Korean peak rank did not rank-order U.S. Top 10 entry: AUC 0.501. Availability, marketing, placement and buyer inputs are outside this data.
FIG 10 · Competitive position
The category is occupied. The wedge has to be specific
-
Direct managed research
Screen Engine/ASI, MarketCast, NRG
Already recruit across markets, screen securely, test finished content and maintain research expertise or norms
-
Internal substitute
Buyer research and Netflix Preview Club
Use proprietary members, viewing data, playback and security without adding another research supplier
-
Data and workflow
Parrot, Ampere, Cinelytic, Whip Media
Build shortlists, compare markets, estimate demand or value and manage licensing from existing signals
-
Respondent supply
Cint, Prolific and other panels
Make cross-market targeting and recontact purchasable, so panel access alone is not a moat
-
Proposed last-mile read
bd@
Adds one paired disclosure-state observation before a finished title advances into negotiation
Use market data to build the shortlist. Use bd@ before advancing one finished title into negotiation. That proposed difference is not a moat today: incumbents start ahead on security, panels, benchmarks and buyer trust, and could reproduce the protocol. The first paid engagement must show that the record changes a real review decision enough to earn a second read.
FIG 11 · Current boundary
The platform ambition is broad. The claims remain narrow
| Not established | What that means |
|---|---|
| Cause | The current design compares responses before and after selected context. It does not identify why an answer changed |
| Prediction | No response recorded by bd@ has been calibrated against a market outcome |
| Price and demand | No paid customer, market price or willingness to pay has been established |
| Global operation | A verified multi-country panel, secure production screener and benchmark library do not exist yet |
